Carnelian

Carnelian frequently accompanies emerald, turquoise, and lapis lazuli in ancient Egypt. This blood-red stone, the color of the rising and setting sun, symbolizes life on Earth and the passage to the next world. It also represents the disc of the solar gods. This sacred emblem crowns the god Ra, Isis and her falcon-headed son Horus, Uræus the female cobra, and Hathor the horned goddess. The Carnelian must be lively and dazzling. In the 18th century, the great naturalist Buffon wrote: “There are beautiful carnelians like beautiful agates: They are as rare as the others are common”.

The most famous Carnelians come from India, mainly from the Pune region. There are other places of extraction in Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, the United States (in the State of Washington), Mali, Scotland, Iceland and Romania.

Carnelian symbolizes blood and therefore vitality. It restores vitality and energy, transmits the love of life, takes away the fear of death, fights against apathetic and depressive states, promotes resolution, success, facilitates adaptation to new situations, stimulates concentration and meditation, strengthens memory, give confidence to the shy, encourages speaking and stimulates elocution, increases resistance to adversity, mistreatment, soothes anger, resentment and jealousy, nurtures and stimulates creativity, protects the house. It stimulates creativity and stabilizes the sexual energy. It bestows courage and inner strength.

The Carnelian is the perfect stone for the Sacral Chakra.
