CRAVING THE ABSOLUTE : Transcending addiction

Craving the Absolute... I can't think of a better way to describe what so many of us experience during incarnation. Craving the Absolute is, experiencing the illusion of separation from Source with the underlying feeling of not being complete. It is missing Unity and Wholeness, living in a World of duality while holding in our cells the memory of the Eternal Bliss of Oneness. One day, I realized how much missing the Absolute affected the quality of my incarnations which were stained by the recurring disappointment from short illusionary joy. The question behind the disappointment was : why is it possible to live an experience without Love and Joy? Knowing that our original, basic state is Joy/Love, how to ever be satisfied with a World where there can be the opposite? It can leave us with a constant feeling of being unsatisfied with Life. To navigate this World while craving the Absolute is a Journey of purification and surrender. There are many aspects of our lives that are influenced by this longing. This is why I will develop this subject in a few parts. Today I feel drawn to talk about one of the biggest hurdle between us and our True Authentic Self : Addiction.

Our human brain has a natural tendency for addiction. It is extremely sensitive to pleasure so when we associate a behavior, substance, environment, person, etc with pleasure (even short-lived) which overwhelms the pleasure circuits of the brain, there is a higher chance to develop an addiction. However, pleasure itself is not the sole responsible for addiction; there needs to be an accumulation of other factors: physiological, emotional, mental and spiritual.

I can't pretend to be an expert in neuroscience so to get more information on addiction there are plenty of resources online or else.

Now, there is an aspect of addiction that is not mentioned enough; it is the part of addiction that takes in consideration our multidimensionality, our interactions with low vibrational entities and our longing for the Absolute.

Addiction is complex and it demands a deep understanding of Self, commitment, gentleness, courage, presence, trust, acceptance, love, compassion and non-judgement to transcend it.

What is the correlation between addiction and craving the Absolute?

Addiction develops when there is the necessity to fill a void. We can observe emptiness from all the dimensions of our being. For example, someone who is addicted to coffee to the point where they can drink 5 cups a day, can look at their addiction from a more physical level view and see that they want to drink coffee because their body needs the substance of caffeine. Then they can move to another level of observation and understand that the gesture of getting a cup of coffee is a big part of their routine, their habits, their daily rhythm. They can go to another level and notice the emotional aspect of their attachment to the gesture of getting cups of coffee throughout the day. They might spend most of their days alone or feel alone even surrounded by other people; so the coffee becomes company. Then if they want to, they can observe from another perspective and look at the reason why they feel loneliness. They can start to explore their childhood and possible traumas who could have caused such feelings and see the beliefs they developped at the time. Furthermore, they can dive deeper and reach a perspective close to Source. Meaning, when we look beyond this particular human experience where could the emptiness come from? The separation from Source. Or more accurately, the illusion of the separation.

It seems that when it comes to our multidimensionnality, in order to transcend addiction, we need to acknowledge the feeling of "emptiness" at all levels.

Some addictions require professional help, others can be managed on our own. It is always important to know when we need help.

I will specifically talk about addictions we can transcend without professional help.

There might be something that you do which feels like self-sabotage. That one thing that is slowly affecting your physical or/and mental health. Something that keeps you in a lower vibration and prevents you from embodying your highest wisdom. That thing that you keep doing but wished you didn't. Maybe it feeds feelings of shame or guilt and lowers the esteem you have for yourself. Transcending addiction is the Journey to reclaim who we really are. Like every experience in the incarnation, addiction is an opportunity to use the power of our will to intentionally reconnect to Unity and Oneness. I will share what I understood about Addiction so far and share with you the steps that naturally guides to liberation. Writing is a big part of the process. You can find a downloadable worksheet here.

1 THE CHOICE

Transcending addiction is only possible if we want to transcend addiction. We have the choice to go through the journey or not. We can decide if it isn't today. However, once it came to our awareness that we have a harmful addiction its effect on our life, our body, our surroundings will be strongly felt, a day or another.

It is a good time to write down why we want/need to free ourselves from the addiction.

2 WELCOME THE ADDICTION

This is when we can start diving into the cause of the addiction by acknowledging, welcoming, accepting the addiction. It is a step where we aim to release more layers of denial. Denial is one of the ego's survival mechanism and can be undetectable so it is crucial to work towards truthfulness. Why is this step important? To welcome the addiction is a way to release some or all tension around it. We need to accept where we are, to accept what isn't so pretty in our behavior. It is the opportunity to switch our perception of the addiction from enemy to ally. The addiction is an ally to fuel the movement of return back to our true Self.

3 FROM UNWHOLESOME TO WHOLESOME

The most important step is to find how to substitute the unwholesome practice with something else that will have a healing and nourishing effect on you. THere different ways to find a good substitute. It is an opportunity to develop responsibility. Research, ask, look for what could heal your body, regulate your nervous system, ease the stress,...

Another way to find a good substitute is to list everything that makes your heart smile.

If you feel to depressed and can't seem to find anyhting that makes you feel joy, remember what you used to like as a child.

4 BUILD THE PLAN

7 days to go from unwholesome to wholesome. This method is from the science of Ayurveda. Day 0 is the day before you start giving up the unwholesome practice. On day 0 you act like usual, enjoy yourself. It is important, however, to have your plan ready for the following 7 days.

Day 1, give up 1/4 of the unwholesome practice and replace it with a wholesome practice. Days 2 and 3, give up 1/2 of the unwholesome practice and replace it with a wholesome practice. Day 4, 5 and 6, give up 3/4 of the unwholesome practice and replace it with a wholesome practice. And on day 7, no unwholesome practice. Adopt all of the wholesome practice.

If your addiction is well anchored you can follow this plan but on either 14 or 21 days.

This method has been proven effective but it is essential to remember our multidimensionality.

It all begins with knowing our energetic constitution. In the energy body, which includes our aura layers, energy wheels and pathways forming the physical body, we store emotions and thought patterns as information. Any information that wasn't transmuted or transcended, in this life and others, stays with us until we transcend them or transmute them. To find the origin of certain emotions and thought patterns is essential in order to fully transcend addiction. Energy circulates, it feels like it comes and goes, so even though we feel like we are free from addiction, if we didn't dive deeper to find the source, it will come back a day or another. In this process, we also need to address all transgenerational information that we might have inherited.

To know and understand "incarnation", which is linked to knowing our reason for being here, is one of the biggest healing gift we can give ourselves. Dive deeper into the understanding of Life with all the information that was left from others before us in music, texts, ancient medecine, etc

Lastly, non-judgment. This Journey, as beautiful as it can be, is extremely challenging so LOVE yourself without reason, without condition, without judgment. Transcending information that is carved in our energy demands a lot of courage, so be gentle to yourself. You've got this!
